Mike Dimes Drops New Single “TALK2ME”

A beat that spins like a cylinder, a voice that glistens through like the spark of a lighter, and an infectious 808 round out the extra catchy “TALK2ME” by rising star Mike Dimes. The simple lyrical approach on “TALK2ME” is made unique by Dimes’ staccato, cocky delivery. Lines like “she only talk to me cause money in the bank’s up properly” and “popping my feed, it’s gon’ have the racks like Serena” feed into this cocky, 50 Cent like demeanor that Dimes digs deep into. The song is rather short too, coming in at only 2:20, it’s just two choruses and a verse. But again, Dimes’ simplicity in structure benefits the mood and tone of this track. 

The integral nature of this track can be explained by Dimes’ home-state, Texas. The choppy drums mixed with various 808 sounds calls back to Houston style trap music and its presence on modern music, intertwined with the age of TikTok’s monumental influence on music, “TALK2ME” gracefully joins together these old and new styles. Dimes’ future in music will be interesting. It’s hard to understand where he will take this stylistic hybrid on the path forward, but we hope to see Dimes fall into more experimental avenues, especially since his demeanor and catchiness are already so appealing.
