Rising Artist Chase Plato Paving a New Way With His Unique Sound

It’s not every day you find an artist that is unique in their music & has a clear vision of where they want to take it. Well, that is the case for Detroit’s rising artist Chase Plato, who is not only extremely talented and unique but also has clarity on his vision. “I know exactly what I want to make and how it’s supposed to sound…I make the songs I wish existed” he explains in an interview with Pigeons and Planes. As an artist this is an important mindset to have in that many artists will know what they want to make but will not know how it’s supposed to sound or vice versa. With the release of only two singles ICE CREAM MAN RIP KOBE, 19-year-old rapper Chase Plato has already found his sound and is on his way to a promising career.

When it comes to his music it is hard to box him into any genre with influences from Tyler, The Creator to Slowdive. “Coming from Detroit fucking traumatized me” Chase explains in his interview on how your hometown will influence your sound. Energetic and disruptive are just two words to describe his two singles, his style is very much in your face. Giving off the impression of a veteran artist, his confidence shines throughout the two songs. On his song ICE CREAM MAN he infuses rock and rap, where he raps raw lyrics over an electric guitar-based rock instrumental. If you are familiar with Zillakami this song is reminiscent of his music, but with Pharrell style drums if you would. Chase takes a different approach on RIP KOBE, it has a distorted-electric feel, utilizing more synths and sound effects and less drums. Chase Plato taking care of the production himself shows his diversity as not only an artist but a producer as well.

Not only does his music have great potential but his videos are taking a step forward in creativity. While most music videos today either lack creativity or originality these videos have both. ICE CREAM MAN takes you back to 2000’s Pharrell styled in Bape & Ice Cream while RIP KOBE is a tribute to Kobe with a 90’s feel. Though both videos are nostalgic they are innovative in the use of the various camera angles, transitions, effects, and color schemes. The two videos are worth a watch. From producing his own music to directing his music videos with partner Victor Grission, Chase Plato has a bright future ahead with a lot in store.
